Accounts and roles
One SmartPart account can hold several roles. What you see in the menu is decided by the roles on your account, so a supplier who also buys from the shop gets both sets of screens without signing in twice.
Your account
Register from Account → Register, then confirm the address the site emails you. Once signed in you have:
| Screen | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Profile | Your details and delivery addresses. |
| Purchases | Every order you have placed, newest first, each linking to its own page. |
| Reviews | Reviews you have left. |
| Calendar | Anything scheduled against your orders — a fitment, a service visit. |
| Kanban | Your orders arranged by stage rather than by date. |
Forgotten passwords are reset from the sign-in page; the link emailed to you is single-use.
Roles
| Role | Sees | Does |
|---|---|---|
| Customer | The shop, their own orders | Configures, buys, tracks, reviews. Every account has this. |
| Supplier | Unallocated and allocated orders | Claims work, reports progress as items are made and supplied. |
| Creator | Configurator tools | Builds and tests the configurators that products are sold through. |
| Administrator | Fulfilment screens | Verifies orders, moves them through the fulfilment states, handles deliveries and problems. |
| Super | Everything above, plus users, partners and system screens | Runs the installation. |
How suppliers work
Verified orders appear to suppliers as unallocated work. A supplier claims the lines they can make, which moves those lines into their own allocated list, and reports progress from there as manufacture, supply and delivery proceed.
Work that is claimed can also be released, which returns it to the unallocated pool for someone else. That is the Allocated → Verified transition in Fulfilment states.
Permissions
Roles say which part of the site you reach. Permissions say what you may do once you are there, and are held per role as some combination of read, create, update and delete.
A role with no permissions recorded against it has all four. A role with a list has only what the list names — so a supplier account can be given the ability to report progress without the ability to delete anything.
Rules are enforced on the server, not only in the browser. A screen that hides a button and a server that refuses the request are checking the same table, so hiding is a convenience and the refusal is the rule.
